Privacy Policy
Effective November 6, 2026
The short version
- We collect what you give us to build your profile, find you matches and let you talk to them, plus a record of how you use the app.
- Some of what you share is sensitive, such as your ethnicity, your gender identity and who you're interested in. We use it only to run Quarah, and the sensitive parts are optional.
- Chat messages are sent to Google Cloud Translation so they can be translated for the person you're talking to.
- We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time, and you can email support@quarahapp.com with any privacy request.
1. Who we are
Quarah ("Quarah," "we," "us") is a dating app based in Georgia, United States. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Quarah app and website, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. If you have a question, contact us at support@quarahapp.com.
2. Who can use Quarah
Quarah is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a minor is using Quarah, please tell us at support@quarahapp.com.
3. Information you give us
Account information
Your email address and password when you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, Google Firebase Authentication, and we never see them. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that service (or a private relay address if you choose Apple's "Hide My Email").
Profile information
Your name, age, photos, bio, interests, the languages you speak, your preferred language for translation, your gender, who you're interested in, the age range you want to see and, if you choose to add it, the city you type in.
Optional sensitive information
Your ethnicity, a short description of your background in your own words, and your gender identity (for example, transgender or cisgender). These are all optional. See section 5 for how we use them.
Messages and activity with other members
The messages you send to your matches, the topic rooms you create or join, and the people you block or report, along with the reason you give for a report.
Rewards claims
If you claim a Quarah Reward for getting married or welcoming a child, we collect the documents you upload to prove it (a marriage certificate, birth certificate or adoption decree), the information shown on those documents, and the details we need to send you the payment.
Purchases
Subscriptions and other purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of what you bought and your subscription status. We never receive your card number.
When you contact us
The contents of any email you send us and the details you include.
4. Information collected as you use Quarah
- Activity: the profiles you like, pass on or super-like, your matches, and when these happen.
- Technical information: basic details our servers record automatically, such as your device type, operating system, app version, IP address and error reports, which we use to keep the app working and secure.
- Location: we do not collect your device's GPS or precise location. The only location we have is the city you choose to type into your profile.
5. Sensitive information
Some information on Quarah is considered sensitive under privacy laws: your ethnicity, your gender identity, and your sexual orientation, which can be inferred from the genders you say you're interested in.
We use this information only to provide Quarah: to show you the people you want to see, and to decide who can join certain optional community spaces within the app that are designed for specific groups. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.
Ethnicity and gender identity are optional, and you can ask us to change or remove them at any time by emailing support@quarahapp.com. By choosing to provide them, you consent to our using them as described here, and you can withdraw that consent the same way.
We don't display your ethnicity or gender identity on your profile. However, because some community spaces are open only to members who meet certain criteria, other members of those spaces may be able to infer that you meet them.
6. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your profile to other members.
- To suggest matches based on your preferences and theirs.
- To deliver your messages and translate them into the other person's language.
- To run topic rooms and, when available, video calls with live subtitles.
- To keep Quarah safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, preventing fraud, and stopping banned members from returning.
- To review Rewards claims and pay approved ones.
- To manage subscriptions and purchases.
- To answer your questions and send you important notices about your account or this policy.
- To meet our legal obligations.
7. What other members can see
- Your profile: your name, age, photos, bio, interests, languages and, if you added it, your city.
- Your messages: the person you send them to.
- Topic rooms: your name is visible to others in the rooms you create or join.
Please don't share anything in your profile or messages that you wouldn't want the other person to see or keep.
8. Translation and live subtitles
Chat translation. When you send a message, its text is sent to Google Cloud Translation, a service run by Google, to translate it into the other person's language. Both the original and the translation are stored with the conversation so you can each read them.
Video call subtitles (when available). During a video call, your speech is processed in real time by speech-recognition and translation providers to create subtitles for the other person. We do not record your video calls, and we don't store the audio.
9. Who we share information with
We share information only as described here:
- Service providers that run parts of Quarah for us, under agreements that require them to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us. They include Google (Firebase and Google Cloud for sign-in, our database, photo storage, server functions and translation), our real-time video and speech providers, and the providers that host our website and handle our email.
- Apple and Google, when you sign in with them or make a purchase through their app stores.
- Other members, as described in section 7.
- For legal and safety reasons: when required by law or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that sharing is needed to protect someone's safety, investigate abuse or protect our rights.
- If our business changes hands: if Quarah is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to apply to it.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we don't show ads in Quarah.
10. How long we keep information and how to delete it
You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Profile and tap Delete Account. This removes your profile and sign-in right away, so other members can no longer see you. We then delete the rest of your account information, including your photos, likes, matches and the messages you sent, within 30 days.
We keep a small amount of information longer, only where we need to:
- Safety records: reports made by or about you, and the minimum information needed to keep banned members from returning, for as long as needed to protect our community.
- Rewards claims and payments: for as long as needed to verify the claim and to meet our tax, accounting and legal obligations.
- Legal requirements: when the law requires us to keep something, or it's needed to resolve a dispute.
If you don't want to delete your whole account, you can also ask us to delete specific information by emailing support@quarahapp.com.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- see the personal information we have about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that's wrong;
- delete your information;
- withdraw consent you've given, such as for your sensitive information;
- object to or limit certain uses of your information;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To make any request, email support@quarahapp.com from the email address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
U.S. residents: We don't sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we use sensitive information only to provide Quarah. The rights above are available to residents of states with privacy laws.
EU and UK residents: We process your information to provide the service you signed up for, based on your consent for sensitive information, for our legitimate interests in keeping Quarah safe and working, and to meet legal obligations.
12. International transfers
Quarah is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use Quarah from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. We rely on our providers' standard data protection terms to protect information that's transferred.
13. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls and security rules on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If you think your account has been compromised, please contact us right away.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Quarah changes. When we do, we'll update the date at the top, and if the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
